Tangy Barbecue Sauce

Okay, I probably shouldn't tell people this. I am not a big fan of barbecue sauce. There, I said it. Weird right? I don't hate it just am very picky about the flavor. Though when I get one that I like, I practically lick it off my fingers. Okay...I do lick it off my fingers. I like a sweet but spicy barbecue sauce. This is hard to find so I just make my own. Which is very easy! My Tangy Barbecue Sauce pairs perfectly with my Tangy Pulled Pork and Jalapeno-Lime Vinaigrette Slaw. It has a wonderful tang and sweetness from the pineapple juice, and spice from the chili paste, and red pepper. YUM!

You will need:

  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 Tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste/sambal
  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a sauce pan and set on medium low heat.
  2. Reduce by half and let cool. Build a sandwich with my Jalapeno-Lime Vinaigrette Slaw and Tangy Pulled Pork. Enjoy!
